MSi is a corporate sponsor to Triton Community College Engineering Technology Curriculum. MSi is providing a hands on environment for students taking the newly created "Material & Processes" class. Mitch Jacobs, Co-owner of MSi, created and started teaching the course - classroom and lab - at our Melrose Park Laboratory this past January 2009. The class is being offered again at Triton College (night class only) this coming January 2010.

The curriculum is a two year program that includes AutoCAD computer modeling, die design, drafting, and other classes that are needed to begin a career in the manufacturing industry. The "Material and Processes" class taught at MSi introduces students on how steel is heat treated with an actual heat treatment laboratory experiment. The heat treated sample is then run through a battery of metallurgical tests and examinations through the remainder of the 16 week course. Also involved is an intensive understanding of how specifications are used to verify acceptance or rejection to ordering requirements.
