Fall of 2008 brought a new opportunity to MSi Testing and Engineering, through the help of Triton College (River Grove, IL). MSi is pleased to be a part of their curriculum with a "Metals Testing" course. Owner/Senior Engineer, Mitch Jacobs began teaching students in January 2009 at the MSi Laboratory.
As part of Triton's engineering technology program, "Materials Testing" was added to the curriculum. The purpose of the course is to provide students with hands on exposure and experience in the metallurgical testing field. Classes are held off campus at the MSi Testing and Engineering facility as part of an offsite teaching pilot program. Currently the school cannot provide the students with up to date equipment, where as, MSi has some of the latest technology in the industry.
Mitch has been involved with outside instruction for many years, speaking at industry related lectures and conventions. This gave him the expertise and ease to take the offer of an adjunct teaching position. He has found the experience to be both challenging and rewarding. The students get a great chance to develop a mentoring relationship, as well as the feel for possible career options.
Courses are provided on two days with the option of day and night classes. Lecture and lab time are held at the MSi Laboratory. For more information on class enrollment contact: Antigone Sharris - Coordinator, Egr. Tech (708) 456-0300 ext.3622 at Triton College. |
